Ingredients
  • 340 g (3/4 pound) of pie dough

For the frangipane:

  • 500 ml (2 cups) of almond powder
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of sugar
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of melted butter
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of citrus liquor (like Grand Marnier)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 orange
  • 2 to 3 drops of vanilla extract

For the garnishing:

  • 30 strawberries
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of gooseberries jelly

  • In a bowl, mix all almonds powder with sugar. Progressively add the remaining ingredients for the frangipane. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Lower the pie dough and set it on a pie plate of 20 cm (8 inches). Pour the frangipane and spread the preparation. Oven bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool down.
  • Slice strawberries in half.
  • Once the dough has cooled down, set half the strawberries over the dough.
  • Melt the gooseberry jelly by heating it for a few seconds in the microwave. Brush the jelly over the strawberries with a pastry brush.
