Strawberry pie and orange frangipane
Ingredients
- 340 g (3/4 pound) of pie dough
For the frangipane:
- 500 ml (2 cups) of almond powder
- 250 ml (1 cup) of sugar
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) of melted butter
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of citrus liquor (like Grand Marnier)
- 2 eggs
- 1 orange
- 2 to 3 drops of vanilla extract
For the garnishing:
- 30 strawberries
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) of gooseberries jelly
- In a bowl, mix all almonds powder with sugar. Progressively add the remaining ingredients for the frangipane. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Lower the pie dough and set it on a pie plate of 20 cm (8 inches). Pour the frangipane and spread the preparation. Oven bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool down.
- Slice strawberries in half.
- Once the dough has cooled down, set half the strawberries over the dough.
- Melt the gooseberry jelly by heating it for a few seconds in the microwave. Brush the jelly over the strawberries with a pastry brush.
