Ingredients
  • 750 ml (3 cups) of pennes
  • 450 g (1 pound) of sirloin beef steaks, sliced into strips
  • 1 package of 250 g (4 cups) of Les Cultures de chez nous sliced leeks
  • 8 minced mushrooms
  • 375 ml (1 1/2 cup) of melted cheese spread
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of canola oil
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of milk

Optional:

  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of chopped fresh chive
Preparation

  • In a casserole filled with salted boiling water, cook pastas al dente. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in another casserole over medium heat. Cook the beef strips for 1 to 2 minutes on each side.
  • Add leeks and mushrooms. Cook 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add melted cheese spread and milk. Bring to a boil. Add pastas. If desired, add chives. Salt, pepper and stir.
Chef’s note

Leeks greatly enhance sauté's taste, soups, quiches, pastas and many other meals. But since its a bit difficult to clean, we mostly left it aside... To gain those precious minutes, opt for Les Cultures de chez nous sliced leeks, sold in packages of 250 g at the fruits and vegetables section at your local grocery store. Cleaned, sliced and ready to use, its the solution when you're short on time!
