Macaroni and cheese with caramelized onions
Ingredients
- 500 ml (2 cups) of macaronis
- 2 minced onions or 1 package of 250 g (4 cups) of Les Cultures de chez nous sliced leeks
- 1 can of 284 ml of condensed celery cream
- 160 ml (2/3 cup) of grated parmesan
- 80 ml (1/3 cup) of panko breadcrumbs
- 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of olive oil
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of honey
- 250 ml (1 cup) of milk
- 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of chopped fresh thyme
- In a casserole filled with salted boiling water, cook pastas al dente. Drain.
- In the same casserole, heat oil at medium heat. Cook onions or sliced leks for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add honey and caramelize for 1 to 2 minutes. Set aside in a plate.
- In a casserole, bring to a boil celery cream with milk while stirring. Add drained macaronis, half the parmesan and, if desired, thyme. Salt and pepper.
- Transfer preparation into cooking plates. Divide caramelized onions of sliced leeks, breadcrumbs and remaining parmesan ovr pastas.
- Oven bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
